The Fireflies are Out!

Hellooooooo!
It's officially summer time because we saw fireflies this week! What a blessing!

This week was wonderful! The best thing happened: WE PUT DAN OF DATE TO BE BAPTIZED! What a miracle! We've talked with Dan about baptism many a time and it's never really clicked with him, but on Saturday it did!
We took a young man from our ward named Parker (he just got his mission call to the Oakland/San Francisco Mission Tongan speaking! How cool huh??). We asked Dan how his reading and praying about the Book of Mormon had been and if he felt like he got an answer. He said he still wasn't sure. Parker starting talking about how sometimes to get answers from God we have to put in some effort and act of faith even if we're not completely sure. Dan thought about that and was like yeah that makes sense! He said he felt as though he had been pretty passive about getting an answer and that he wanted to take more action. We asked him what kind of actions he wanted to take and he said baptism. So we asked him when he thought he would be ready and he said, "Not for a while. I need some time." I thought he was thinking like November or something so I was hoping we could shoot for August as a date. but then Dan said, "Sometime in July." I about jumped up off the couch I was so excited! We extended the invitation to be baptized on July 28th and he accepted. MIRACLES HAPPEN PEOPLE! There is also a baptism in a neighboring ward this Saturday (Yay for the Toledo Sisters!!) and we were able to get Dan a ride to that! Please keep Dan in your prayers.

We also took Grandma Pat with us to teach our investigator named Joan. We taught her the Plan of Salvation and were able to answer a lot of her questions that she's had her whole life. She said the Plan of Salvation filled some holes she had. She is really sweet and I'm grateful for be able to help her know more fully God's love and His plan for us. We invited her to read the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and to pray about it. We are meeting with her on Saturday!

We also started meeting with Georgiana again. She is also on date to be baptized and she has such a desire to learn, but she has a hard time coming to church. She has only been once and it was about 6 months ago. I can only imagine how scary it is to come to church for the first time, but we know how much she would love it if she came! Sister Bullock gave a talk this Sunday, so I sat by Dan in the pews and I had him sit in the inside because I said that we might have another person coming. Georgiana didn't end up coming to church and Dan mentioned it after church was over. It was kind of fun to talk to him about it afterward. I asked him if it was scary his first time coming to church and he said it was, but he liked it a lot. That's why he's come every week but one since January 14th. He's so cool!

Also because Sister Bullock spoke in church a less active who we've been doing service for, Sister Baum, came to sacrament meeting! That was another miracle!

Ya know the saying, "When it rains it pours?" Well I'm pretty sure that is because of Ohio. Yesterday it was cloudy all day and we just kept waiting for it to rain and when it finally started it dumped. SO MUCH WATER WAS EVERYWHERE! We had Sister Eddington, our stake president's wife and such a sweet lady, come out teaching with us after dinner and that's when it started to rain! I'm so grateful she still came with us though! She had a really good attitude about it even though we were all drenched. We were planning on teaching Georgiana but she had to cancel, so we went a got in contact with a former investigator and some kind of standoffish less active members. It was really great that she was there to talk with them and help us out. It was lots of fun!

I don't know if I've talked about Heather before.. but she is a former who is really not all the way there.. She got in contact with us as we were trying to contact a less active from the YSA named Brandon (they live in the same apartment complex thingy) and so we met with her and she said she would like to meet with us again which is a good but she also said that she didn't want to talk about the Book of Mormon, she didn't want to quit smoking or drinking, she didn't want to stop breaking the Law of Chastity, and she didn't want to come to our church because she liked her church-- basically she wanted to just come to the YSA activities.. but she's too old. When we were leaving after meeting with her she watched our van and stared and stared at us.. she''d kinda scary.. We haven't made efforts to set up another appointment with her because well.. as you can see that wouldn't really help us fulfill our purpose as missionaries. I'm cool if people want to do that because we can make our own choices, but umm.. that doesn't really help us do what we're suppose to do as missionaries, so we haven't contacted her ourselves. If she contacts us we'd gladly talk to her but she is a little scary.. But anyway! We had some extra time at the end of the night yesterday so we thought we would try Brandon but as we were walking who do we see? We see Heather! We hid and then we ran back to the car! It was so funny! She's a good person but I'm also a little scared of her.. It's a funny situation! She's kinda crazy! I love the people of Ohio so much!

Here is what I read in my studies this morning: Watch it :)
Love yins! Hope you have a truly wonderful week!
