Christmas Skype

Image
We had such a great visit with Adri on Christmas Day. She is doing well. We were able to visit with her companion, Sister Bywater, for a second. Adri is currently serving in the Akron area. She is in a very wealthy area and is missing the "humble people" of Youngstown. She says there is a lot of work to do and she anxious to do it. The Stake President lives in her area and is a great example of missionary work. One of the best moments was when Adri and Katy (Sister Grant in New Zealand) were "together" for about 30 minutes. They had a great time talking and catching up. That was a sweet moment. For a brief time we were together as a family. Fantastic!!! So grateful that Adri has had the opportunity to grow, learn, and serve in Ohio. Can't wait to catch up again on Mother's Day.

Merry Christmas!

What up fam? Akron is going good! It's been a good week! We found a new investigator named Melonie. A convert in our ward referred her to us because he said the church would pay for her dog to be trained. Unfortunately we had to tell her "no", but she was open to hearing how we could help her spiritually! We taught her the Restoration and it went so well! I'm excited! We also had Christmas zone conference  on Friday  and it was so much fun! I loved it so much! We just sang lots of songs. My zone sang a cool version of Away in a Manger and Sister Stout played the violin with it. And then the sisters sang Gethsemane and I sang the alto part! It was fun! I saw so many friends at zone conference and it was the best day ever! I FINALLY SAW BAILEE! It was the happiest moment! I was walking into the church and she came running out and I was so excited! We ate next to each other and talked about home and it was so fun to finally have the OCM Westward Hos togeth

Winter!!!

It has finally snowed in the great state of Ohio. That means it finally feels like Christmas! YAY! We did service this week! I LOVE SERVICE! Any opportunity we get to wear the yellow service shirt (or the nifty vest that I'm wearing in one of the pictures) I jump at! I love doing service! We first of all went to the food bank and it was so much fun! We labeled boxes and wrapped the stack of boxes in that clear plastic stuff.. I can't remember what it is called... We do it as a district once a week and I'M SO EXCITED TO GO AGAIN! We also helped a member clean her house. It was just really messy not really dirty so that was nice. It was actually kinda fun! We're gonna go back and do it again because we just barely dented the mess with the three hours we spent there.  We've been able to contact a few potential investigators this week and hopefully we will be able to meet with them soon! Please pray that we will be able to meet with Austin! Thank you

Sister Grant takes on Akron

Hello everyone! First things first, Lebron James is in my area, so basically Sister Bywater and I are gonna baptize him. JK he has gates around his house.  Akron is going good! There is like nothing happening here yet, but we're gonna get things going! Woo hoo! It's a good ward and like everyone is from the west. They all know where St. Anthony is. I'm been asked about the Sand Dunes so many time! It's been fun!  My new comp is super sweet. She is obsessed with Star Wars, so sometimes we talked about the like three things I know about it. haha! But she's great!  I'm happy and I'm healthy!  LOVE YOU ALL!  Love,  Sister Grant My new address is  48 Manor Rd Apt B Akron, OH 44313 (if you're gonna send something for Christmas or anytime just send it here. We won't get anything sent to the mission office until like January)

Where in the OCM is Sister Grant Going?

I'd just like to start this email off with a scripture. Doctrine and Covenants chapter 38 verse 32:  32  Wherefore,  for  this  cause  I  gave  unto  you  the  commandment   that  ye  should  go  to  the  Ohio ;  and  there  I  will  give  unto y ou  my  law ;  and  there  you  shal l  be  endowed  with  power  from  o n  high; As you can tell I'M FINALLY GOING TO OHIO! Wap wap wap!  I'm headed to Akron   tomorrow   morning to serve in the Akron ward in the Akron North Area! YAY! My new companion will be Sister Bywater and coincidentally we already have a picture together! (picture #1) She is the very teeny tiny one! About 12 weeks ago we went on exchanges once in North Olmstead when our old companions were going to the trainer's meeting. I'm excited to go to Akron! Sister Reddish says it is the best stake in the OCM and I'll take her word for it!  I will miss Youngstown A TON! I really love this place. So many great things have happened here a

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone! Happy Thanksgiving to you all! This week has been AWESOME!  We had zone conference and that was just the best! We talked about the Book of Mormon and the Spirit was so strong in the room! The book is true! and we talked about Light The World! I'M SO EXCITED THAT I'M ON MY MISSION FOR LIGHT THE WORLD!  We have TWO dinner appointments :) It's so great! Thanksgiving isn't as fun as when we're at home, but I'm making the best of it! It is hard being away on a holiday.  Sister Bills asked me to send her some mission experiences for the ward history.. IDK what to say.. Nothing too major happened this week it was just a real good week. LOVE YOU ALL!  Hope yins have a good week! Also, you should all look at this.  also go look at this!  #LighttheWorld Love, Sister Grant

Miracles

Image
This week has been so great! The gospel of Jesus Christ can touch people and it is so awesome to see! We were able to meet with Jenn this week and it was a total miracle! We had an appointment planned with Perry and Chloe Palmer (member) was going to come. Perry canceled like 20 minutes before we were suppose to be there.. so lame.. but Chloe was already on her way because she lives like the farthest away from us she could. So we told her to meet us at the library instead of Perry's house. We went to visit Shawnee, but she wasn't home so we went to see if Jenn was home AND SHE WAS! She let us in and we were able to teach her the Plan of Salvation. The best thing was that we asked if she had the opportunity to pray about the Book of Mormon and she said she did and then that night when she was in bed she closed her eyes and she saw the word YES flash in front of her eyes and she felt the Spirit so strong. She said she was so excited she couldn't sleep! She had remembere

Happy Week! All is Well.

Sister Winsor and I after Trunk or Treat Happy late Halloween! And HAPPY NOVEMBER! How is it already November!? Time flies! I've had a very happy week :) We had a trunk or treat and chili cook off with the ward and it was SO MUCH FUN! David came and he had a great time! We started the lessons over with him and will be seeing him tomorrow :) It was so much fun to be with the ward! Bishop Carl is the funniest man I've ever met in my life! He told us how he used to dress up in black and put a light in a pumpkin and scare his kids by running around in the dark with the glowing pumpkin doing the "Magic Pumpkin Dance." He is so hilarious! The ward got some changes this week. Brother Betts and Sister Betts are leaving this week :( saddest news of my life.. But we're having dinner with them tomorrow so it's okay! But Brother Betts got released from the bishopric and Brother Houser got called to be in the Bishopric as the 1st Counselor which meant

Sister Winsor and I working on a map of our area.  Northern Hemisphere Sister Grant's letter (aka me): Shout out to Southern Hemisphere Sister Grant. I love her and miss her. What up folks!? This week has been really awesome! Or at least the past few days I can remember have been!  I can't really remember what has happened but I'll give it a try! We had a real good lesson with Leon and we brought Brother Nichols. Leon really opened up to us and said that he is closed off and so we're trying to open him up to get his answer. There is a baptism  this Saturday  in the New Castle Ward and we hopefully will be able to get him there. If he can't go to that one there are two baptisms next week. One is in New Castle and one in Youngstown! Things are happening in the district folks! It's so good! We had an AWESOME lesson with Nikki yesterday! Brother Thibideau came and he was able to relate with Nikki so well. We planned on teaching the Word of Wis

Well I'm staying in Youngstown another 6 weeks, and I'm staying with Sister Winsor! It's good because the work has started to pick up!  We have three on date for baptism and that is so exciting! We haven't been able to meet with Leon in a couple of weeks which is so sad, but we're meeting with him  Thursday,  with Brother Thibideau, and we're really gonna buckle down on him getting his answer about whether this is true or not. Hopefully it will all be well! Keep him in your prayers. We love him! Shawnee is set on date for Decemeber 30th and we're excited for her to start progressing. She has a crazy life! But she is so sweet and we love her and her little daughter Jordan. Pray for them! Nikki is set on date for  December 16th !! She is so sincere and wants to learn and know if this is true. She is so sweet! Pray for her! Well I thought I was leaving this week so I took a lot of pictures :)  Anne is an investigator and she is s

Hola! Sister Rosa Grant here! Well I had a lot planned to say for this email, but it looks like I have used my time in other ways ... (aka talking to the fam and Mra).. and we have to leave soon to go mini golfing so it will be more condensed! I promise one day I will have a detailed letter! Sorry fam! Transfers are next week so I email  on Tuesday  and I really hope I leave Youngstown and go to Tallmadge with Sister Parker! That would be the best! I don't know if I'll leave though.. we'll see! I'll find out at the latest  on Monday. Exhanges were great! Sister Garvin and I saw miracles! We also met this guy named Ed! (he's in the picture) We went to the temple last week. So good!  The temple was so awesome! I saw Ellie Lucille Ferguson! The temple is tiny tiny tiny. You are just driving along a road and you look to your left and you're just like "oh.. there's the temple." It's cute though! We're blessed to have a

Temple Day

Image
Hey fam!  I have like no time at all because it's already after  6:00  and we aren't technically suppose to be emailing right now.. sowwy.. But we just got back into our area from Columbus and it was so great!! So much peace is in the temple. It's straight-up goodness :)  I'll add a few pictures to the drive so go ahead a take a look at those! We rode down to Columbus with Brother Dew and Sister Johnson (no picture of them), but Brother Dew works so we would have ended up getting home way later than we already have if we would have rode back with the two of them. They're older and wonderful and in the elder's area and I love Sister Johnson so much I can't handle it. I'll have to get a picture with her before I leave this area!   We rode home with Brother Thibideau, Elder Beavers, and Elder Klinglesmith- technically we needed another woman but.. sowwy.. because of the circumstances that's just how it happened! Mom and Dad! I tried W

Holy Heat Wave

Hello Fam! Shout out to Erin and Matt! Congratulations on the wedding! I wish I could have been there, but just know I was there in spirit :)  Another shout out to Brianne Marie Nelson  who leaves on her mission in less than a week! Cray man! You'll be the best cutest missionary ever! This week has been RIDICULOUSLY hot! I hear you are all freezing in Idaho (aka the Promised Land) and we're melting! It has been in the high 80s and even up into the 90s.. It's okay though! I really don't mind too much! It's suppose to start cooling down  tomorrow  we hear so that's really nice!   T he coats and boots are PERFECT!   This week the reoccurring thought that has been going through my head is "you reap what you sow" and so the one Shawn Mendes song has been stuck in my head.. anyway.. You for sure see more blessings the harder you work. I've been able to see that this week! First off we had an awesome district meeting. I love

A Week of Ups and Downs

Hello everyone! Hello Everyone, This week has been full of ups and downs. Unfortunately, I've been looking at the downs though. But that's all gonna change here this next week!  We got yelled at and just verbally beat down. It really wasn't fun. It happened on two different days, too. I've been feeling sorry for myself which has just not made for a good week.   But here are some great things that happened this week! 1. We had an awesome lesson with Leon:  Brother Thibideau came with us to a lesson with Leon and it was the bomb. We talked about baptism and confirmation and Bro. Thib said the best things to Leon. Leon said that he is the closest to knowing that it's true right now. Hopefully he keeps studying and praying and he'll get his answer! We're gonna set up for him to watch General Conference at someone's house probably! That will be awesome! 2. We found some good potentials:  Some have even turned into investigators! I'm
