Sent to 8 Mile: Gonna Baptize Eminem

Hey fam!
I know what you're thinking: "What is Sister Grant doing emailing on a Monday?" Well welcome to my preparation day because I'm in Michigan! I am currently serving in a YSA/ Campus area. I'm also serving as an STL.. a lone one.. my comp isn't another STL.. I have no idea how that works so if any of you do I would love a run down because wow am I confused. :)

 I'm assigned to serve in the Bloomfield Hills YSA Branch and my area is Oakland University campus! It's cool! School isn't in yet so we don't go too much, but I'm excited for when the semester starts! We cover the entire Bloomfield Hills Stake which means we cover Detroit! WE LITERALLY COVER THE CITY OF DETROIT! It's so legit! Ever since we got the news that our mission was gonna be the Michigan Detroit Mission I've been saying for someone to send me to 8 Mile and they did! I LOVE THE GHETTO! But also we have super ritzy places too so that's cool. It's like being in Akron all over again. Good stuff.

My companion's name is Sister Stephan. She is from Alberta, Canada. She's super sweet and she said she would take me to Banff National Park so she's cool! She's been out almost 9 months and has been here on Oakland Campus for 6 weeks.

I miss Bowling Green with all of myself. I love those people and that place more than life! It's okay though! I'm beginning to adjust to here so, happy day, all is well!

We took a recent convert to the temple for the first time this past week. It was such a tender mercy from the Lord that I was able to take him with Sister Stephan. I needed the peace of the temple and I'm so grateful I got it. The temple is in our area and right next to our church building! IT"S AWESOME!

Hey fam! This week went by crazy fast. Honestly, time just needs to slow down. I'm not quite ready to go home yet. Don't get me wrong. I'm excited to see all of you, but I'm really sad to be leaving. I'm trying to soak it all in while I can!  This week was a super one! We had exchanges and both Sister Bretz and her trainee, Sister Anderson, came to Roseville. It was so much fun! I was able to spend the whole day with Sister Anderson and she's awesome. I swear when I had been out for 3 weeks I said maybe like 3 words a day (okay maybe that's an exaggera tion). Loving the MTC and a Testimony

Dear Mom, Dad, Collin, Kenna, and Katy,  (letter written on Sunday, June 4th) Record Katy's setting apart! Then you can type it and send it to her. Sister Warren did that and I think it's a great idea. How is Katy? I honestly can't think about her leaving because it makes me wanna cry. I know that I had such a bad day (the second day only - every day has been better since) I'm worried about her. I know I shouldn't be and I'm trying not to, but it's hard not to! I've really learned to fully rely on the Lord. He has felt these exact same things we've felt. He will help us through them. We taught our first investigator (an MTC one) on Monday. I was terrified. We taught her the Restoration (which I have learned a lot about). Her name is Patty and she had a son that died. We shared with her some trials in our life and how we know God had helped us through. Best Exchange Ever

On an exchange with Sister Jenkins. The house of many children. It has been a really good week! Even though we kinda got dropped by Perry. That was sad, but we're trying to see what we can do.  We went on exchanges yesterday and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I was with Sister Jenkins again! It was her last exchange because she goes home and transfers are next week. It will be so sad to see her go. She was Sister Reddish's trainer so she is my grandma. She gave me an ugly floral shirt that she's worn throughout her mission and I feel so honored! But it was so fun to be with her. She is super great at talking to people and she is such a great example to me. We visited a lot of their less actives while I was there and we visited this one family who has 4 kids and then they take in their neighborhood kids - so so many kids were at their house while we were teaching about service!
