Pranks and Rainstorms

Hello Everyone,

This week has been a normal week for missionary work. Finding, finding, finding. It's been good though! There have been some funny things that happened this week.

Last Thursday we were at a member meal with Jennell and Bill Chapman. We were going to teach Jennell the Gospel of Jesus Christ because she is a recent convert, but then right when we got started sirens started to go off and Jennell's phone was making all sorts of noises.  We were all like, "What the heck!?" Turns out that they were tornado/ storm sirens!! So first of all Sister Reddish and I were excited! Then we were a little scared because the Chapmans started telling us scary stories about tornadoes and they were telling us what to do if a tornado is coming (get in a room with no windows, a basement, a bathroom, a shower, put a mattress over yourself in case stuff falls on you; if you're outside get in a ditch, etc.). So they told us we should probably leave so we could get home safely before the storm got way bad. So we did and we were pretty nervous!

On our way home we got a call from Sister Swick (I love her and we got a picture with). She told us we needed to get inside because she heard sirens in Sharon and the news was saying that the weather was bad. So we hurried home and when we got there we decided to update the area book, but we freaked ourselves out a little and texted Jennell asking what was going on because we can't look at the news! She told us that we needed to get in the tub because it was getting bad and the tornado had touched ground and the whole storm was headed towards us! We got in the tub and I grabbed my mattress and we shoved it into our tiny, winy bathroom. They texted and said, "We need to make sure that you're not just telling us this. We need to know you're safe." so we replied, "As representatives of Jesus Christ, we assure you that we are sitting in our bathtub with a mattress over our heads."
hah!

They called us and said, "We have good news and bad news. The good news is there is no tornado. The bad news is we were just joking." THEY TRICKED US!! And we believed everything they said (I believed it more than Sister Reddish)!

Bill said he put it on Facebook and also sent our texts to Bishop Carl. We got a voicemail from Bishop Carl later that night (we didn't answer the phone because we were putting my mattress back on my bed haha) and he started out by saying, "Hey Sisters! I hope you're having fun in your bathtub!"And then he laughed out loud! He said that we would discuss what do to during emergencies in Ward Council on Sunday, and we did! He brought up the storms, laughed and told everyone in there about what happened to us (this includes the Zone Leaders that serve with us). Then they appointed someone to call us if the storms are something we should worry about. Bishop Carl couldn't look at us all day long! He was laughing from the stand haha! It was so good! I'm glad we could bring some humor to the Youngstown ward!

Also the eclipse was this week! I hope you all enjoyed it! Sister Reddish and I did! We watched it from out parking lot (shout out to Mom for the glasses)! Before the eclipse though the ZLs texted us and said, "Sisters, please be in your bathroom by 1:00. Eclipses are dangerous and could cause serious harm." So we put on our glasses and brought sunscreen, an umbrella, and a helmet to the bathroom and took a picture in the bathtub so we can show them. But here is the thing about the picture ... it is so awkwardly candid. We thought we were taking a video of Sister Reddish listing the things that we needed to be safe and me saying "check!" but it turned out to be a timed picture! Just take a gander of my face haha! It's good!

Also yesterday we were walking home and got caught in a HUGE rainstorm! We were drenched! Just soaked! My shoes are still sopping wet today! But there are a few pictures of us in that storm too! My first Sunday here we got caught in a big storm too, so we tried to recreate one of our first pictures together!
It's been a good week folks! Every week is a good week and every day is a good day! I hope you all feel the same! Love you all! I hope you have the best week ever!
Love, Sister Grant

Thanks for your prayers! Perry seems to be doing really well! He went to Hill Cumorah this weeked and had a good time! Nothing to awkward happened this week.. I have a hard time remembering what happened when I get here. hah! Did they say Hermitage was disgusting because sometimes I think it is, but really it's not. I like it a lot!
